This summer is filled with excitement and anticipation as we look forward to the opening of the Porter Family Center for Innovation & Academics in August!
This 71,000-square-foot new home for innovation, collaboration, and discovery will welcome Highlanders back to campus for the start of the 2023-24 school year, marking an exciting milestone in the Elevate Highlanders Campaign.
CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS
Every space in the Porter Center is designed to inspire and ignite. On the ground floor is the Tillman Family Student Center, a vibrant home for student life on our campus with spaces that invite Highlanders to meet, exchange ideas, and build community: the Vivar Student Union, Scott Family Commons, and Kind Family Library. Exceptional outdoor spaces, including the Jackson Breezeway and Steinmetz Family Innovation Courtyard, enhance students’ enjoyment of our beautiful campus and lakefront location.
The second floor Innovation Institute is home to the Carmany Family Innovation Hub, a state-of-the-art central makerspace surrounded by interdisciplinary teaching labs for engineering and design, robotics, physics, computer science, and more. The Morsi Mathematics Institute on the third floor offers a signature collaboration zone and innovative math classrooms, while the fourth floor Center for Literary Arts features English classrooms with soaring views of our city. The fourth floor’s Starling Gallery provides an exceptional venue for events, meetings, and student activities.
The opening of the Porter Center is made possible by the generosity of our Highlander community and your remarkable support of the Elevate Highlanders Campaign. To date, the campaign has raised an impressive $22.9 million. We are deeply grateful to the 2,013 donors who have made philanthropic investments in this bold and powerful vision for the future of our school.
CAMPAIGN PROGRESS
As we celebrate the opening of the Porter Center and the completion of Phase I of the Elevate Campaign, we also look ahead to Phase II and building the new Multisport Athletic Facility.
This outstanding, 41,000-square-foot building and adjacent field renovation will elevate and transform the training and competition spaces for 650+ Highlander athletes on 40 teams across 12 sports, including Wrestling, Archery, Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Lacrosse, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Football, and Track & Field. The need for this new athletic facility is urgent and the timing for construction is dependent on fundraising progress. We look forward to launching Phase II of the Elevate Campaign in the fall and raising the funds needed to break ground on this remarkable new athletic facility.
ELEVATE CAPITAL PROJECTS
The Elevate Campaign includes three capital projects – (1) Porter Family Center for Innovation & Academics; (2) Multisport Athletic Facility & Field Renovation at the Lake Highland Athletic Complex; and (3) The Arts District – along with growing Lake Highland’s endowment and sustained annual support of the Highlander Fund.
